　　1. 在烤箱里塞满锅碗瓢盆

　　Putting all the pots and pans in the big oven

　　好处当然就是节省空间，但是这同时也会带来不便，做饭之前总是要在狭小的烤箱空间里翻箱倒柜。

　　Save Space/Efficient use of space. But it's inconvenience, as we have to take out all the things before we could actually cook anything.

　　2. 做米饭时通过手指来衡量米和水的比例

　　Measuring how much water to put in the rice by fingers

　　好处当然是不用量杯, 但是说实话这在外国人看来是有些不健康，毕竟他们不知道中国妈妈们还用手指淘米呢。

　　We don't need a measuring cup, but we still have an accurate measurement. But it's not hygienic, as you fingers will have direct contact with the rice.

　　3. 在家里存很多塑料袋

　　Storing a lot of plastic rubbish bags in the house

　　这样节省了购买垃圾袋的费用，同时也避免塑料袋本身仅仅作为垃圾扔掉。一举两得啊。No waste management fee at all.

　　4. 玄关或门廊里到处都是鞋子

　　Shoes are everywhere in doorstep

　　其实这就是一种传统而已，没有什么特别的原因。这一现象其实在日本比中国更加普遍，主要是由于日本人习惯于住榻榻米，所以进门一定要脱鞋。

　　Tradition: Tatami is a popular furniture item in Japan, that people will sit, or even sleep on it.

　　如果硬要说出一个理由，可能就是为了卫生条件考虑吧。鞋子毕竟是在外面走路时穿的，会接触到外面各种各样的环境，地铁，厕所，餐厅，所以它一定会带有各种细菌。

　　Hygienic reason: In order not to bring the virus and diseases back home, people will take of their shoes right at the doorstep.

　　5. 金属制曲奇盒子里没有曲奇？装满了缝纫用品

　　Cookies tins are filled with sewing supplies and no cookies

　　中国人一直有拿空盒子存放零碎物品的习惯。金属制地的曲奇盒材质坚硬，还配有盖子，很适合继续使用，这在过去十分节俭的中国人看来是十分实用的。

　　The tins are still functional: Without cookies, cookies tins are still functional as they are durable, rigid, have functional lids, and have a large base for storing.

　　6. 长辈绝对不允许把筷子插在饭碗里

　　Sticking the chopsticks vertically in a bowl of rice is not allowed

　　其实这就跟西方吃饭家庭时不让孩子敲刀叉一样，都是文化因素所致。因为这两种习惯本身对人对己都是没有伤害的。

　　其实中国人对筷子，还有很多“奇奇怪怪”的要求

　　Things we should never do with chopsticks:

　　1) Never use chopsticks as drumsticks, and separate chopsticksfrom one hand. Chinese believes that everything that is good comes in two. If we separate the chopsticks, we will disturb the "peace" and bring us black luck.

　　别拿筷子当鼓锤，更不要一手拿一只。这主要是由于中国人相信成双成对才是好的。

　　2) Never point chopsticks at someone. It is regarded as an impolite action.

　　不要拿筷子指人，十分不礼貌。
