汶川地震“无腿”女孩获加拿大皇家飞行学校录取

　　A girl whose legs had to be amputated after she suffered severe injuries in the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, has received an invitation from a Canadian college to experience flying courses during the upcoming winter vacation.

　　一位女孩在2008年汶川地震中受伤失去双腿，最近她接收到加拿大皇家飞行学院的录取通知，获得在即将到来的寒假体验飞行课的机会。

　　Seven years ago, 11-year-old Huang Meihua failed to escape as she was pinned down under stairs in the school building in Beichuan county when a powerful earthquake struck Southwest China’s Sichuan province.

　　七年前，四川省汶川县发生强烈地震，当时11岁的黄梅花没有逃出教学楼。

　　She had to be transported to hospital on a helicopter. Since that day she has dreamt of flying a plane.

　　黄梅花被直升机救助转移到医院。从那一刻起，她就梦想能够开飞机。

　　After learning about her story, Qing Guangya, principal of an international school in Dujiangyan, Sichuan province, admitted her in school and waived off all the fees, including tuition fees.

　　知道了黄梅花的故事后，四川省都江堰一所国际学校的校长录取她到本校读书并免除了一切学杂费。

　　Coming from a small town, Huang could not speak or write English. But the ambitious girl found every possible way to make it up by herself, and scored 98 points in the final exam, up from 66 points in the midterm.

　　黄梅花从一个小镇来到这里，英语听说读写能力都很薄弱。但这个坚强的女孩还是靠自己克服了这个困难，英语成绩从期中考试66分上升到期末考试的98分。

　　Coming from a small town, Huang could not speak or write English. But the ambitious girl found every possible way to make it up by herself, and scored 98 points in the final exam, up from 66 points in the midterm.

　　黄梅花从一个小镇来到这里，英语听说读写能力都很薄弱。但这个坚强的女孩还是靠自己克服了这个困难，英语成绩从期中考试66分上升到期末考试的98分。

　　"Some people think that handicapped people are weak or weird," she said. "So I want to be a better person to influence everyone around me."

　　“一些人认为残疾人是脆弱和奇怪的，”她说，“所以我想努力做得更好，以此来影响我周边的人们。”

　　When the Canadian college came to her school to enroll students, the staff heard about Huang Meihua’s story and decided to offer her a chance.

　　当加拿大大学招生人员来到黄梅花的学校招生时，工作人员听了她的故事，决定给予黄梅花这个机会。

　　The course in February in Vancouver will last three weeks, including five to 10 hours’ flying and basic knowledge of flying. The college will make a comprehensive evaluation on how well she has mastered the knowledge and skills and her physical adaptation.

　　这个课程在加拿大温哥华进行，为期三周，包括五到十个小时的飞行基本知识的学习。学院会对黄梅花的知识技能以及身体适应程度做出综合评估。

　　Talking about the course, Huang said with confidence that "flying an airplane doesn’t need to use feet. Now that the college has chosen me, I think I can make it."

　　说起这个课程，黄梅花自信地说道，“开飞机用不到脚，既然学校接收了我，我想我可以做到的。”
